Chelsea Fringe Festival

This year our special Chelsea Fringe open day will take place Sunday 21 May - for more details click here!

As 2017 will be our fifth anniversary taking part in the fringe we couldn't resist bringing back our old favourite and most popular Chelsea Fringe event - The Inner Temple Dog Show Returns.

Every year the garden opens for a special event as part of the Chelsea Fringe Festival, which we have been taking part in since 2013. Our inaugural event celebrated the long established bond between gardener and dog with a 'tongue-in-cheek' Dog Show where canines and their owners battled it out in categories such as ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Dog you’d most like to take home’. In 2014 we celebrated the work of our artist in residence, Emma Coates, and invited visitors and local school children to draw their favourite plant or garden story on 10 metre long paper scrolls in a montage of images. In 2015 we decorated the garden with all manner of colourful pom poms and knitted ornaments. A pop-up knitting club was held in the evening for three weeks and a sunny Sunday opening attracted picnickers young and old as well as novice and experienced knitters who all enjoyed the garden.

Last year at our event 'Get-Tied-Up' we invited people to take part in free posy making workshops and admire our floral installation in the Peony Garden. As always, picnics on the lawn were encouraged and visitors were welcome to take part in a workshop or just come to enjoy the garden and its setting, there’s plenty to see and space for all.

The Chelsea Fringe runs from 20 May–4 June 2017 with projects taking place across the UK and Europe. For further information see chelseafringe.com
