The Inner Temple is working closely with the National Education Trust to organise information events and activities for schools, aimed at increasing students’ knowledge of what is involved in training to be a barrister. A recent event was attended by 70 year 12/13 students from 22 London state schools.
The Inn has an Inner Temple Student Society (ITSA) and specialist student societies for Mooting, Debating and Drama, all of which are extremely active.
RADA and LAMDA Skills Course
An opportunity for BPTC students to work on their presentation skills with trained actors from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Cumberland Lodge and Highgate House Residential Weekends
Held three times a year, these weekends allow BPTC students to hear from leading experts in various fields of law (eg. asylum and immigration, medical science, sports law etc), to practise their advocacy skills and to meet leading barristers and judges. Weekend chairmen have included Radio 4’s Libby Purves, Reprieve's Clive Stafford-Smith and journalist and broadcaster Julia Hartley-Brewer.
One of the most important events of the year for students who have completed the BPTC course, Call Night is an impressive graduation ceremony held three times a year, enjoyed by students, family and friends alike.
Pupils and New Practitioners Advocacy Weekends
There are four Weekends per year, two for pupils and two for new practitioners. The weekend courses are taught by the barristers and judges of the Inn who are highly experienced teachers of advocacy.
