- Motor vehicles are permitted to enter the Inner Temple:
- To enable passengers to enter or alight from the vehicle
- For loading or unloading
- Pursuant to a parking permit issued in advance
- To allow the driver to park and purchase a daily parking permit
- To allow the driver to park and purchase a half-day parking permit in any consecutive four-hour period between 9am and 5pm, Monday – Friday (excluding Bank Holidays)
- In an emergency.
- If permission is granted to enter pursuant to paragraph 1 (i) hereof, the permission to enter is limited to 20 minutes’ duration. No employee or agent of The Inner Temple other than the Sub-Treasurer or Car Park Administrator has authority to permit any driver of any vehicle to exceed this period.
- If permission is granted to enter pursuant to paragraph 1 (ii) hereof, the loading or unloading must be the sole purpose for entry and must be completed within a reasonable time.
- Drivers of vehicles without a parking permit issued in advance must immediately obtain and pay for a day or half day permit at the current prevailing rate. In default the driver will be invoiced at the overdue rate for each day or part day during which the vehicle remains in the Inner Temple. The sum per day or part day is a genuine pre-estimate of the cost of administration and enforcement of these terms.
- A blue badge holder visiting or working in The Inner Temple and Middle Temple and law courts may park free of charge in any disabled parking bay provided that they display a valid disabled blue badge and have requested a daily permit from the Treasury Office either in person, by telephone or email. Professional tenants and members with a blue badge are eligible to apply for a 75% discounted members’ annual permit. - The driver of any vehicle entering The Inner Temple
- Must not cause any obstruction or interference with any other vehicle or any of the entrances exits roads or parking spaces in the Inner Temple.
- Must not maintain repair (except in the case of breakdown or other emergency) or clean the vehicle or refuel the vehicle in the Inner Temple.
- Must not display hazard warning lights on any vehicle left stationary in the car park.
- Must comply with any instructions given by any employee or agent of the Inner Temple, including removing the vehicle if required to do so.
- Must comply with any signs or road markings displayed.
- Drivers who utilise an electronic charge point to re-charge the battery of their vehicle may use the same to charge the battery for not more than 4 hours. At the end of the period of 4 hours, the driver must disconnect and move the vehicle. Under no circumstances may a vehicle be left connected to a charging point for more than 4 hours. Users of the electronic charge points must pay the Electric Vehicle Charging Point Supplement either through the Inn’s website or in the Treasury Office.
- Drivers who fail to purchase a parking permit or who fail to pay for a parking permit issued must comply with any written demand for payment within 14 days of the date of demand. Failure to pay within this period will entitle The Inner Temple to require a payment of interest at 5% per annum over base rate calculated on a daily basis until payment.
- Holders of any parking permit must comply with the terms and conditions of any licence or regulations from time to time issued by The Inner Temple.
- Residents and Annual Permit Holders are permitted to park overnight. Members, Tenants and visitors to the Inn must request permission from the Inn prior to leaving their vehicle overnight.
- Parking for Weddings: Permits can be issued by the Catering Department for the immediate wedding party with a maximum of 6 permits. All other guests should pay the daily rate when parking overnight during the weekend (i.e. between the hours of 5pm Friday to 9am Monday) and are staying at the Apex Temple Court Hotel or other local hotels. These guests should purchase a permit from the Treasury Office in advance. Wedding guests who are members do not have to pay over the weekend but do have to inform us of their intention to stay overnight.
