Deputy Librarian

The Deputy Librarian ensures the smooth running of Library services and communications, maintains and develops the programme of legal research training, and deputises for the Librarian and Keeper of Manuscripts. Working alongside the Librarian (as the library leadership team), the post also supports the development and implementation of all Library policies. The post manages a team of 7 employees both full and part time.

What we need:

A qualified Librarian with extensive experience of working in a law library and a detailed knowledge of legal materials and databases (with an ability to use hard copy and online resources). Previous line management experience and practical experience of designing and delivering legal research training are essential.   

The successful applicant must be willing to work occasional unsocial hours as required, including one 8pm Enquiry Point duty per week and occasional Saturdays – TOIL is available when worked. Please download the recruitment pack for full information on our requirements.

About us:

The Inner Temple Library is a legal reference library, which dates back to 1506.  It supports the information and research requirements of barrister, student and judicial members of the four Inns. It is not open to the general public.

What we offer:

Salary is £56,000 per annum, a generous non-contributory pension benefit, free lunches at work when the Inn’s kitchens are open, a taxed daily luncheon allowance provided when they are closed, season ticket loan or Cycle to Work scheme after passing probation and 25 days’ annual leave.
