Master Turner (James Turner KC) died on 21 January 2025, aged 72.

Master Turner was called to the Bar in 1976 and took silk in 1998. He practised family law at 1 King’s Bench Walk. Throughout his career, he was involved in many of the landmark family law cases of the past two decades. He was a contributing editor of Archbold: Criminal Pleading, Evidence and Practice from 1992 to 2018

Master Turner was elected as a Barrister Governing Bencher of the Inn in 2006 and served as a member of the Executive Committee from 2009 to 2011.

The Inn's flag will fly at half-mast in his memory on Thursday 23 January.
