A joint presentation from Teertha Gupta KC and Her Honour Marianna Hildyard KC, giving practical tips from the Bar and the Bench on the art of persuasion in family cases, including Q&A. Teertha Gupta KC was called to the bar in 1990, became a Recorder in 2009, took silk in 2012 and became a Deputy High Court Judge for 6years in 2016. His practice is predominantly International Child Law cases. He has represented in Courts as far afield as Horsham Magistrates Court to the UK Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the EU. Her Honour Marianna Hildyard KC was called in 1977, specialised in family law cases, became a Recorder in 1999 and was authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court Judge in 2009. She took silk in 2002 and retired in October 2024, but continues to sit in retirement from time to time Please note this event will take place online only. An interactive one-day conference to guide and support those returning to the Bar, taking a career break, or moving practice area. Join us at the Inner Temple on Thursday 22 May for a free full-day conference, to include panel talks with speakers from a range of backgrounds, sharing their experiences of going on and returning from parental leave and career breaks, navigating self-employed practice as a parent, moving practice area or chambers, and adapting to change when things do not go to plan. Interactive workshop sessions will focus on micro-mentoring and building confidence and resilience; roundtable discussions will focus on financial support, how time away can enhance your skills, and refreshing your advocacy skills on returning to the Bar.
